THE OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS AWARD FOR 2025

Madras Institute of Technology Campus of Anna University, a unique educational institution, was founded by Sri. C. Rajam in 1949 to impart education in unconventional engineering courses like Aeronautical, Automobile, Electronics, Instrumentation, Production and Rubber Technology. With unique skill-sets compared to the conventional engineering graduates, MIT students are in great demand ever since its inception.

MITAA has the pleasure of honoring Dr. Elamvazhuthi Pannir Selvam, 36^th batch Alumnus of Electronics Engineering as Outstanding Alumnus for the year 2025.

After completing his B.Sc from Periyar Arts College, Cuddalore he joined MIT in 1984.   Graduating from MIT in 1987, Dr. Elamvazhuthi Pannir Selvam joined Indian Navy and served for more than two decades at Indian Navy & DRDO holding different roles. He spent the next 10 years in CTS, Delphi, TCS, handling different projects & portfolios. Since 2019, he is the Principal Engineering Fellow & Radar Consultant at Veoneer & Magna.

During his distinguished career of 37 years (and counting) Dr. Pannir Selvam pursued his M.Tech from IIT-Delhi in 1993 and did his Ph.D from IIT – Bombay in 2014. Along with these, he also completed numerous Management Courses – Project Management, Six Sigma, Talent Management, Functional Safety just to name a few. He completed many other courses – Drona, Robotix, AI&ES are some of them.

Accolades to Dr. Pannir Selvam include NASSCOM Excellence Award, TCS Technova, Director Naval R&D Rolling Trophy in 1989, just within 2 years of his professional career.

Dr. Pannir Selvam holds several patents in his name and also innumerable Publications to his credit. His global experience includes attending, conducting and chairing technical sessions, workshops in many countries including the UK, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Japan and China.

Dr. Pannir Selvam also conducted Knowledge Imparting sessions in various Engineering Colleges across India including his alma mater Madras Institute of Technology.

As an expert Radar Consultant Dr. Pannir Selvam had undertaken many projects in this domain. Link Budget Analysis of an external Radar, Automotive Radar target simulator, Electronic scanning Radar 2.5, short range Radar 1,2, 3 & 4 are some of his more than 25 prestigious projects that he completed for clients in India and overseas.

Not only a project expert, Dr. Pannir Selvam is a good teacher proving his mettle not only during his stint in Indian Navy but also later in his career. His contribution as an academician made him to be an Expert Member in the Board of Studies at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore and Defence Institute of Advanced Studies, Pune.

His wife P Sivajothi, a successful homemaker, is the pillar of strength for his professional journey and family. While he was patrolling the Inidan oceans, she was surfing the homefront swirls very effectively and raised two sweet daughters beautifully.

His elder daughter PS Yazhini selvi is a linguist fluent in many languages. A good singer she hasparticipated in many TV programs. Her husband Vignesh Ram is a Cyber Security Manager with KPMG.

His younger daughter PS Sindhana Selvi is Chemistry Doctorate scholar and doing her Postdoc from University of California, San Diego. Her husband Shubham Sinha is doing his Postdoc from Itlay in Mathematics.

MITAA takes great pleasure in awarding Dr. Elamvazhuthi Pannir Selvam, the Outstanding Alumnus Award for the year 2025 and wishes him good health & great success in all his future endeavors.
