AGM – 2026 was held on 06-09-2026 at Dr. Ananthakrishnan Hall, Anna University Alumni Club at 10.30 am.
After ascertaining the quorum, President Mr. B. Senthilnathan called the meeting to order. The meeting was attended by 85 alumni in person and 200 virtually.
Mr. Karthikeyan Nagarajan, the MC for the meeting called upon the President for the Welcome address.
Mr. B. Senthilnathan, while welcoming the Alumni from Chennai, other states and from overseas – outlined the various activities undertaken by MITAA, which is in its Diamond Jubilee year (60 years since its inception in 1966). He thanked his predecessors for all the hard work put in by them when communication used to be by snail mail only and for the enthusiasm shown by the founders to make MITAA a successful Association. He touched upon activities undertaken by MITAA during the silver jubilee year in 1991, Golden Jubilee of MIT in 1999, how a seed capital of Rs 1.00Cr by Mr. K.B. Chandrasekhar paved way for the PPP ventures inside MIT. Emphasizing on the support by Alumni fraternity, he discussed about the proposed MITAA Skill Development Centre in place of the Alumni house which was constructed in 1991. He once again appealed for active involvement by Alumni in bringing this centre to reality for the benefit of the students of MIT.
Before concluding his welcome address, the President made obituary reference. A one minute silence was observed to pay respects to the Alumni who left us during the previous one year.
Mr. T. Sankar, Secretary – MITAA, before presenting his Annual Report took up the MoM of the AGM-2025 for adoption.
Subsequently he presented the Annual report which was made available in physical copy as well as a soft copy through a QR Code. Secretary’s Annual report outlined on innumerable activities by Alumni for the benefit of MIT students – in the form of financial support (through AMITA Trust and FFE, about Rs 3.00 Cr per annum), imparting knowledge by way of Industry Oriented Course (IOC), Guest Lectures all by MIT Alumni, support for projects, internship, placement.
Achievements of MIT Alumni in their professional careers were also highlighted in the Annual report.
The Annual Report was adopted by the General Body.
Mr. N. Ramachandran, Trustee – AMITA Trust in his address sought the involvement of Alumni to take forward various initiatives taken up by the Assn. He also suggested about MIT leasing out various equipment in its labs to Industry. He said by doing so, revenue can be generated and also involve students, research scholars to get Industry oriented experience inside MIT itself.
Dr. Venkatasamy – Treasurer presented the accounts of MITAA and AMITA Trust. In his presentation, he lamented on the decline in enrollment of life membership by the outgoing MIT students. Only about 65 students (not even 10% of the outgoing students opted to become life members of MITAA as they passed out of MIT in 2025). Both Financial reports and reappointment of existing auditors with a slight hike in renumeration were adopted.
After this, Mr. Anbuselvan, V.P. – MITAA spoke about the proposed MITAA Skill Development Centre, describing the details of the centre. Names of some of the donors were mentioned. Mr. Gaffar of Hyderabad handed over Rs 10 Lakhs cheque for the Skill Development Centre on his personal behalf.
Post these presentations, honoring Alumni for their achievements was taken up.

- “Team Raptee HV”, a start-up co-founded by Mr. Dinesh, Mr. Karthikeyan, Mr. Keerthivasan all MITians and Mr. Punith, an NITian.
Eminent Researcher Award:
- Dr. Senthilkumar, Director CASR, MIT, Aerospace Department
Each of the awardees addressed the gathering in their acceptance speech and thanked MITAA for the recognition.
After this Goldies Awards were presented to Alumni from the 25th batch, who passed out in 1976.
MITAA recognized the contribution of Alumni who spent time in providing Guest Lectures and took IOC classes with Certificates and thanked them for their involvement.
Dean of MIT, Prof. P. Jayashree addressed the gathering. She mentioned about the general trend – a college approaching its Alumni for support whereas in the case of MIT, it is the Alumni Assn offering its support to the alma mater. She touched upon various infrastructural facilities that are being made, that are in the pipeline to accommodate the ever increasing intake of UG students every year. It was mentioned that 976 students have been admitted into the First Year UG courses in Aug 2026 with 2/3 of them being hostellers. While thanking MITAA for the continued support, she appealed for the continuance of the same forever.
Mr. Karthikeyan proposed a vote of thanks and invited Mr. Senthamil Arasu, the returning officer to the election process of new office bearers and EC members for the period of 2026 – 2028.
