FIA Day 2019 was organized on 22nd March 2019 at Rajam Hall, MIT. This was jointly conducted by MITAA and MIT
- Mangatram Sharma, Principal Secretary, TN Govt Higher Education Department was the Chief Guest of the event while Dr. M K Surappa, Vice Chancellor – Anna University was the Guest of Honour
- H S R Sharma, President-MITAA welcomed the gathering after the invocation. In the welcome speech, he highlighted on various welfare activities taken up by MITAA for the benefit of MIT students and MIT. He thanked Alumni fraternity for their continued support and appealed for the continuation of the same.
- T Thiyagarajan, Dean – MIT, presented the Annual Report of MIT. He detailed the excellence achieved by MIT students during the academic year in the fields of Technology, Sports at State, National and International level competitions.
- J Kumar, Registrar – Anna University and Mr. V Balasubramnian from the Founder’s family extended their felicitations
- T M Jawaharlal, Patron – MITAA, read out the citation for the Outstanding Alumnus Awardee Mr. S Narayanan, Director – Bimetal Bearings Ltd, an Alumnus of 31st Batch Automobile Engineering
- Narayanan after accepting the OA Award, thanked MITAA for bestowing the honour upon him and gave Rajam Memorial Lecture in which he emphasized on importance of fundamentals and how MIT helped him to learn and grow to the Management level of his organization.
- R Balaji, Patron – MITAA, read out the citation for the Distinguished Alumnus Awardee Rear Admiral V Mohan Doss of Indian Navy and 35th Batch Electronics Alumnus
- Rear Admiral Mohan Doss accepting the award recalled his MIT days, how he was selected for Indian Navy during his second-year studies itself. He promised to extend his support to MIT students by way providing Aircraft / related parts to the Aeronautics Faculty. He also committed to take active part in MITAA activities that would benefit not only MIT students but the Alumni too.
- Vice Chancellor M K Surappa in his address, emphasized on the importance of research-oriented education and outlined the efforts of the University in this regard
- Shri Mangatram Sharma, IAS in his keynote address touched upon the efforts of the Govt of Tamil Nadu to increase the standard of Education across all Universities and committed his full support to Anna University in achieving its goal
- R Madhavan, EC Member – MITAA, introduced the nominees for the Best Outgoing student (male & female) award instituted by Mr P M S Prasad, Exec Director, Reliance Industries Ltd and an Alumnus of Instrumentation Deptt. Winners (one male and one female student) were awarded with cash prize of Rs 35,000/- each
- Mr R Venkatasamy, Treasurer – MITAA made a brief presentation on Industrial Training and its importance.
- MITAA handed over books to the Library, on behalf of MITAA Alumni who contribute regularly for the Book Bank project.
- Subsequently students who excelled in their academics were awarded Prizes, medals, cash awards
- K Lakshmi Shankar, Secretary – MITAA proposed Vote of thanks.
- The function concluded with National Anthem followed by high tea
