Madras Institute of Technology Campus of Anna University, a unique educational institution, was founded by Sri. C. Rajam in 1949 to impart education in unconventional engineering courses like Aeronautical, Automobile, Electronics, Instrumentation, Production and Rubber Technology. With unique skill – sets compared to the conventional engineering graduates, MIT students are in great demand ever since its inception.
MITAA has the pleasure of honoring Susi Ganeshan, popular Film personality, Founder Chairman of TAMS Homely Foods & NESMA Family Foods, a 41st batch Alumnus of Automobile Engineering as Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2026.
A native of Madurai District, Mr Ganeshan had his schooling in Kallupatti, Madurai and completed B.Sc from Thyagarajar College Madurai. He joined MIT in 1989 and graduated in 1992, In honour of his parents Subbiah and Sittammal, he changed his name S.Ganeshan to SuSi Ganeshan.
Even during his MIT days itself, his interest in Arts made him to become the Chairman of ATHENAEUM and to conduct many a cultural event successfully. As a student journalist many of his articles were published in Vikatan Group of Magazines.
Post his education, Mr. Ganeshan plunged into arts & culture and turned to Films. His debut film as full fledged writer & director was in 2001. One of his many films “Five Star” was based on real life incidents during his MIT days. And he chose to shoot the entire film in MIT itself. His footprint was there in Bollywood too.
His success in Film world made him recipient of many awards from TN State Govt, Filmfare Award, Great Seal of the State of Maryland in 2013. AS a writer his book Vakkapatta Bhoomi published in 2005, based on socio economic and cultural transformation of the villages, gained lot of accolades.
Not restricting himself to Films Susi Ganeshan became an entrepreneur becoming the Founder – Chairman of TAMS Homely Foods & NESMA Family Foods, having operations in Mumbai. Along with his wife Ms. Manjari, who has a strong scientific and managerial background, he co founded the above food processing and hospitality startups. They also run the film production company 4V Entertainment, which has produced two films and is engaged in further projects.
They have four lovely children. Two are in college and two are in school and the family is happily living in Mumbai.
Not forgetting his childhood and his native Mr. Ganeshan started “Kanthaswamy Foundation” in 2009, a social initiative to adopt & support villages. This Foundation has adopted 3 villages in Madurai. District providing basic amenities, school, healthcare support etc.

MITAA has the pleasure of honoring Mr. PK Murugan of 12th batch of Production Engineering and 40th batch of MIT, as Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2025.
PK Murugan is a native of Tuticorin, hailing from a humble background. He did his B.Sc. Chemistry from VOC College, Tuticorin and B.Tech. in Production Engineering from MIT during 1988-91. He has further honed his leadership skills through programs at IIM Ahmedabad and Brown University.
He started his career at Essar Steels and played a significant role in material management. He later joined JSW and became an expert in Bulk Raw material sourcing. He was instrumental in JSW getting the Deming Prize in 2018.
As President of JSW Steel Vijayanagar & Salem Works, he got the company’s capacity from 12 to 18 MTPA, with a projection of 24 MTPA by 2030.
His oversees the management of large-scale facilities, including seven townships housing over 19,000 employees, four schools providing education to around 10,000 students and a state-of-the-art 200-bed multispecialty hospital. The current estimated turnover of JSW Steel Vijayanagar & Salem works is around 1,00,000 Crores.
He is a respected speaker at industry and global forums such as WSA, FICCI, CII, BCCI, including the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC). A strong advocate for environmental sustainability and workplace safety, he has spearheaded several transformative initiatives.
Inspired by the values of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, he leads with humility and wisdom. A corporate athlete, he also spends time cycling and tennis.
His wife, Bhuvaneswari Murugan, is a fellow batchmate from MIT. She has had a distinguished career in the Steel Industry. Currently she is the Associate Vice President – Commercial & Purchase at JSW Energy Ltd and has been an unshakable source of strength throughout his professional journey. They are blessed with a daughter, Nishevitha, who has completed her MBBS in Karnataka and is now pursuing her MD in Paediatrics at Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi.

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Mrs. Saraswathy Venkatasamy of 39th Batch Automobile Engineering as Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2024.
Saraswathy Venkatasamy is a native of Chennai and did her B.Sc. Physics from Meenakshi College, Madras University and B.Tech. in Automobile Engineering from MIT from 1987-90. She did M.E. in Energy Engineering from CEG, Anna University from 1990-92.
She founded Saraswathi Enterprises in the year 1992 involved in the broaching / machining processes. Subsequently she served in TNEB for nearly a decade.
She became a serial entrepreneur then. She is the CEO of Pointel Solutions Pvt. Ltd, a software development and services company, which has about 100 employees and is going very strong. She founded Dino Motorcycles-a very successful Royal Enfield dealer. She also established GAD-A-GET Computers – a software services company.
She was actively involved in Goldman Sachs 10000 women conducted by NSRCEL, the startup hub at IIM, Bangalore. She is actively involved with Tamil Entrepreneurs Association and MIT Entrepreneurs Association. She has travelled extensively to USA, Europe, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka and other countries.
Mrs. Saraswathy strongly believes in giving back to the Alma Mater. She has contributed generously for AMITA trust to help the MIT students. She is connected with MIT regularly through Guest lectures, Project mentoring and internship for MIT students.
She credits her high success to the full support and love of her husband Venkatasamy, a 37th batch Automobile Engineer from MIT. Her highly energetic son Dinesh Arjun is running a successful Startup in E-bike sector. Her lovely daughter Samyuktha is doing her engineering in Anna University.

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Mr.S aumyendra Kumar Priyadarsi, an alumnus from the 38thbatch of Automobile Engineering, as the Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2023.
SK Priyardarsi a native of Bhubaneshwar did his B.Sc. in Physics at BJB College, Bhubaneshwar and B.Tech in Automobile Engineering from MIT (1986-89).
He started his career with Tata Engineering and in 1995 joined the Indian Police Service, Orissa cadre after clearing the Civil Services Exams. He effectively handled the relief and rescue management of 1999 Super Cyclone as Addl. S.P of Puri. He has handled the challenging Ganjam district operations as S.P.
As S.P of Puri, he has the unique distinction of successfully conducting the “Car Festival” of Jaganath Puri for 5 years. He has effectively controlled organised crimes in the Cuttack city as D.C.P, Cuttack.
Mr. Priyadasi has effectively led the anti-naxal initiatives from the front as DIG, South Western Odisha during the peak of Left-wing extremism in the State. As I.G of Police, Operation, he was instrumental in strengthening anti-naxal force “SOG “as well as creation of anti-terror force “STU” of Odisha state. He earned laurels internationally for his role in managing the Super Cyclone “Fani” at Puri. For his continuous significant contribution in Puri, he was appointed as ‘Officer on Special Duty (OSD)’ to the Nabakalebar Festival, the biggest festival of Lord Jagannath, Puri in 2015 by the State Govt. which he conducted successfully. His role as ADG (Law and Order) in handling the migrant workers issue during Pandemic of March- April 2020 is exemplary. His role as ADGP (Crime) has significantly reduced the narcotics related crimes in one of the worst affected regions of the country.
As Police Commissioner, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack he has successfully managed the FIH-World Cup 2022, FIFA U-18 girls World Cup, World Cup Men’s Hockey 2023. He has initiated several citizen-friendly ideas like child-friendly Police stations, Swagat at P.S level, Sr.Citizen dedicated helpline etc. He has introduced many community/social Policing Programs like “Baasti ku Chala (Go to Slums), De-addiction of criminals (DREAMS).
For his dedicated and inspiring service, he has received many awards from the DGP, CM, Governor, MHA and President on various occasions during his 28 years of service, including President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, 2022.
He has been an Outstanding student during his MIT days and was also the Chairman of Personality Development Association of MIT.
His wife Smt. Sonali Mohanty, a Telecom Professional, is focusing on social activities presently and is promoting Odisha art and Handloom artisans. His only daughter is doing her Arts course in Bhubaneshwar.

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring C. SHUNMUGANATHAN of Production Technology faculty, an alumnus from the 37thbatch, as the Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2022.
C. SHUNMUGANATHAN is a native of Sivakasi. He obtained Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from American College, Madurai, in 1985. He did his Bachelor of Technology (Production Technology) from MIT, Chennai in the year 1988 (T.No.09517).
The family business lured him back to hometown after his graduation. Presently he is the Managing Director of their group companies namely Sri Kaliswari Metal Powders Pvt Ltd, Sri Kaliswari Fireworks Pvt Ltd (Green Energy Division) and The Kaka Indian Foundry. He is a Business Member in CII – Chennai Chapter, CAPEXIL, FIEO, IGCC, EU chamber of Commerce and Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce.
He is focussed in research on Defense related R & D in collaboration with Aerospace Engineering and on Concrete Aluminium Powder with Civil Engineering at IIT, Chennai. He is developing lot of products for Defense. His interest in R&D has made his group to take great pride in “Make in India “initiative for the armed forces. His products are exported to USA, France, Italy, Israel. His group turnover is 350 crores. His group is employing more than 7000 persons with various skill sets.
C. SHUNMUGANATHAN is a member in Rotary Central, Sivakasi, a Committee Member in SHNV Girls Hr Sec School, Sivakasi. He is the President of Virudhunagar District Basketball Association and Handball Association and is a member in Sri Kaliswari Trust, Sivakasi. He is also a Patron Member of Kaka A. Shunmuga Nadar Memorial Sports Club and shown great interest in the sports and recreation activities in Sivakasi Town. His contribution to the development of sports activities in this Fireworks town is quite high.
He is married to Mrs.S. Subha, who takes care of the home front and support his social activities and his employee’s welfare. His son Mr.S.Vikram after his B.Tech did his MIB in Australia, is a Director in the group companies and is poised to take the group to further heights as the fourth generation entrepreneur. His Daughter in Law Mrs.V.Prathiba is running her own enterprises very successfully in Shrimp Business

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Ilango Krishnamoorthy of Automobile faculty, an alumnus from the 36thbatch, as the Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2020.
Ilango a Native of Swamithopu village from Kanyakumari did B.Sc in Applied Sciences at TCE Madurai and B.Tech in Automobile Engineering from MIT (1984-87). He did MBA, from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
He started with Ashok Leyland, Chennai and in 1992 moved onto New Zealand. He is currently the CEO / Director of Mercury Printz, Auckland. He is the first Indian to start a Printing business in New Zealand. Has successfully run restaurant, signage and wide format digital printing and integrated satellite businesses. He is an expert in reshaping sick business and put systems in place to make it profitable for the owners.
He is a Member of New Zealand Labour Party. Served in the Ethnic Communities Policy Council as a strategic planning member. Stood for Auckland Council Elections for Ward Councillor. He is a Member of Printing Industries New Zealand, Elected Board Member for Manukau Business Association, “Fellow” at FINSIA, the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, the professional body in Australia and New Zealand for the financial services industry. “Member”at The Institute of Directors, the professional body for directors.
He is one of two Founding Members of New Zealand Hindu Temple Society Inc, and instrumental in building Mangere Thiru Subramaniyar Aalayam, Saiva Aagama Tamil Kovil for the people of Auckland. He is greatly involved in community building, from family counselling to business mentoring, especially for people from India. Won an award for his Distinguished Services to Tamil Community and Hinduism. He is the Board of Trustee Treasurer at South Asian Trust – Helping hand –Counselling services for community and Niwas’s three Men’s Safe home facility in Auckland.
He has contributed a lot to the MIT students in meeting their college fees through Late Prof. A. Nagarajan.
Ilango is married to Sakthi, Solicitor / barrister at the High Court of New Zealand. Their three children are studying at the University.

MITAA has the pleasure of honoring Rear Admiral V Mohan Doss of Electronics faculty, an alumnus from the 35thbatch, as the Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2019.
Rear Admiral V Mohan Doss, is the Head of the Naval Aviation Material specialisation of the Indian Navy which is Seventh Largest Navy in the world and presently appointed as the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Air Materiel), at the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy), New Delhi. Prior to this he was the Additional Director General of Quality Assurance of Naval Systems at New Delhi. In the Air Material Specialisation, rarely an officer is promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral. So, he is the Sixth Rear Admiral from the Air Materiel Specialisation in the history of 70 years of Indian Navy.
Born at Vridhachhalam from economically weak family background, studied in Tamil Medium at Government schools and Govt. Arts College, graduated from MIT in 1986, He was selected by the Indian Navy during the first year through Campus Selection Programme and his whole studies at MIT was sponsored by the Indian Navy. He has been a topper in studies and all his career related training courses. He did a PG level Specialisation Training Programme in ‘Marine Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering’ at the Naval College of Engineering, at Jamnagar. He holds ME in Electrical Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and M. Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Mumbai. He has been trained at GEC Marconi, in Scotland, UK for development of software and repair of Avionics using Automatic Test Equipment.
For his outstanding professional work he has been commended by both the Chief of the Naval Staff and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief. For his remarkable and high order of meritorious performance and excellence, he was awarded the prestigious Vishist Seva Medal (VSM) by the President of India in 2014. He has been a noted academician as the Director of the Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology at Kochi, which is Asia’s biggest Institute for Aeronautical Engineering.
He is actively involved in Green initiatives including industrial safety and waste management programmes. He has personally adopted many destitute children for teaching them and encouraging them to excel in academics.
He conducts regular training for several premier educational institutions and motivates the students for Start-up Ventures and Entrepreneurship. He also conducted several workshops across the country to motivate the small and Medium Scale Industries for larger participation in defence production and R & D activities.
His wife Mrs. Chaya Mohan is a Chief Manager with State Bank of India at New Delhi. His daughter Ms. Sheena Mohan after Masters works for Intel, USA. His son Siddharth Mohan works for Arista Networks, Bengaluru after Engineering at BITS Pilani.

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Mr. N. Ramakrishnan of instrumentation faculty, an alumnus from the 34th batch, as the Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2018.
After completing his B.Sc. degree with Gold mdeal in 1982 majoring Mathematics at Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, Tamilnadu, he pursued his B.Tech course in Instrumentation in MIT during 1982-85. He further did PGDM at Anna Institute of Management.
His career started at Taylor Instruments India Ltd in 1985 and moved on to Eurotherm India Ltd. Soon he become 3rd largest shareholder in the company. He then became an entrepreneur in 1995 by establishing a JV with Precia Molen France as a Founder Promoter cum Managing Director. He has more than 100 employess at various positions to run the business. The Company is regarded as the Best Performer in Precia Molen Group besides retaining market leadership position in India.
Precia Molen France, a pioneer in industrial weighing which has 20 manufacturing subsidiaries and presence over 40 countries. Precia Molen India Ltd engages in CSR activities spending substantial money and efforts for social upliftment, natural disaster, national security etc. Mr. N. Ramakrishnan spends huge money in philanthropic activities regularly through his family – Mangalam charitable trust.
Mr. N. Ramakrishnan lives in Chennai. His wife Dr. Renuka Ramakrishnan is a Dermatologist. She has been awarded ” the woman of the year 2018 ” in the field of medical care & social reforms. His son Mr. R. K. Santhosh is a Business Development Manager in Precia Molen, Malaysia and daughter Dr. R. K. Pratibha is a house surgeon.

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Mr. KRSR. Krishna of instrumentation faculty, an alumnus from the 33rd batch, as the distinguished alumnus for the year 2017.
He passed his Bachelor’s degree in 1981 majoring Physics at Hindu College, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, ranking First in the University. He did his B.Tech course in Instrumentation in the year 1984 at MIT. Further he pursued PGDBA during 1990-1991.
His 33 years career started at BHPV and includes stints with Bells Controls (Foxboro) India, John Brown Engineering India, Thapar Chemtex, Ralph. M. Parsons International Sultanate of Oman, Stork – Protek-Comprimo Malaysia, Petrofac International Sharjah and Petrofac Engineering Services India Private Ltd. Chennai. Now he is Vice President-Engineering at Petrofac International Ltd. Sharjah.
His experience spans the fields of design, detailed engineering, site supervision and commissioning of Projects related to Oil and Gas industry (both Onshore and Offshore), Petrochemical and Chemical EPC Projects
He is an honorary. Rotarian, advisory committee member of many engineering colleges, Founder Chairman of ” Industry Institute Interface ” Forum and present Chairman of ” PMI E & C Chapter “, Tamilnadu. His philanthropic activities inculde “Jeeva Velicham” for Vision Impaired, “Maithree” for Physically Challenged, “Ekal Vidyalaya” for Rural Developemnt.
Mr. KRSR. Krishna lives in Sharjah. His wife Mrs. K .Padmini a home maker. His daughter Mrs. Chandana Priyanka, an electronics engineer, is married and lives in Bangalore and sone Mr. K. Aditya, electronics engineer, works in India for a Taiwanese company. Singing is his hobby in multi – language viz., Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Dr. B. Sundar Rajan of electronics faculty, an alumnus from the 31st batch as the distinguished alumnus for the year 2015.
Dr. B. Sundar Rajan did his B.Sc. Mathematics at Madras University, later studied at MIT, Chromepet to get his B.Tech (Honors) degree in electronics engineering and passed out in 1982. He started his career as Lecturer with IIT Delhi in 1990 after his M.Tech and Ph.D. from IIT, Kanpur in the year 1984 and 1989, respectively. From one prestigious institute IIT, he moved on to most respectful education institute, IISc, Bangalore in the year 1997 as Associate Professor. From the year 2003, he is serving as Professor at IISc Bangalore. He took leave from May 2004 to July 2005 to take up a specific role as Distinguished Member of Research Staff at Beceem Communications Pvt Ltd, Bangalore for IEEE 802.16’s Task Group e, and co-authored many IEEE documents and patents.
During his service he has received innumerable recognitions and awards from IEEE (Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), IASc (Indian Academy of Science), INSA (Indian National Science Academy), IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore, NASI (National Academy of Sciences India, INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering), IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering) and so on. He has membership with Professional societies like IEEE, IASc, INSA, NASI, INAE, AMS (American Mathematical Society). He also has been in Editorial board of several IEEE journals, He has been Technical Program Co-Chair (TPC) and speaker for many workshops and International conferences organized by IEEE. He has many patents granted (US). He has much more than what we listed here to his credit, which run into pages.
Dr. B. Sundar Rajan lives in Bangalore. His wife is Shree Devi Sundar Rajan and blessed with two daughters Malini and Roshni.
